Thomas Scartz and the early diversion program was truly a blessing as my son needed help with his addiction and I needed help in handling our situation. This program met our needs without negatively affecting my son's future. So many of our children are dealing with mental health and addiction issues, this is a much better option than incarceration for them.
I am writing to express my deep appreciation for the exceptional support I received from Mr. Thomas Scartz (Very Respected , very professional) throughout my involvement in the Early Diversion Program. His prompt responses, guidance, and understanding of my situation as a victim have been instrumental in helping me navigate this challenging process.
Mr. Thomas's thoughtful approach, particularly in drafting the offer letter for my husband , has been crucial in fostering a path toward reconciliation for my family. His ability to craft a solution that considers the well-being of my husband to be a better person. The points he included in the offer letter have provided a foundation for our family to work toward a better future together.
Thanks to his efforts, my case is now nearing resolution, and my family is on the road to healing. I am grateful for the way Mr. Thomas has handled this case with professionalism, care, and a genuine concern for our future.
I wanted to share this feedback to highlight the positive impact Mr. Thomas Scartz has had on my life and to commend the Early Diversion Program for its effectiveness in helping families like mine.

Virginia has some extremely strict laws regarding assault. When police got involved with an incident involving my family, one of the members of my household was arrested despite nobody wanting to press charges. One of the officers straight up told me he had made arrests over thrown blades of grass before-- and he didn't have a choice. From my understanding, the threshold for "assault" is on the floor and it is to be charged 100% of the time; in that kind of environment the early diversion program needs to exist. I am glad I was able to stop them from needlessly acquiring a criminal record. I also appreciate that Mr. Scartz gives a number of options so that recourse can be tailored for each individual's case.
As a long time supporter of domestic violence prevention and child abuse programs, I was extremely pleased with the program offered by the PWC JDR and Commonwealth Attorney's Office in a case that I was representing an individual involved with such a situation. I believe that the outcome was a win for both as all learned what is necessary to avoid turmoil in family situations.
Mr. Thomas Scartz’s office and the early diversion program were truly helpful to my wife, and I resolved our issues and dismissed the case without appearing in court. The office recommended that we go through couples counseling sessions, which has benefitted our family and us. We hope similar help is extended to others going through domestic disputes resulting in court hearings. We are very grateful.

This is a fantastic addition to our local justice system that has helped many families address domestic issues without the full intervention of criminal prosecution for minor, isolated incidents. I could never have believed to be escorted out of my own house handcuffed and then having a chance to spend 2 years in jail. Thanks to the program, the charge was conditionally dismissed! I appreciate the opportunity and hope the Early Diversion program will help many more people.
